Appointments

Contact us with Accurx

You can contact a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional online using a website called Accurx.

Urgent appointments

Appointments are made available daily at 8:30am.

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:

  • phone us on 01992 654004
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Each day we have 20 plus urgent slots with the nurse practitioner.

In addition to the urgent slots of the nurse practitioner, each of the doctors have 5 phone appointment slots during each of their sessions. These appointments are usually used for general medical advice, discuss recent test results, etc.

We also have 3 urgent face to face on the day appointment slots with a doctor during each of their sessions for emergencies. Afternoon urgent appointment slots are bookable from 3pm on the day.

Appointments will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:

  • phone us on 01992 654004
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist
  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) or SystmOnline to book an appointment, screening test or vaccination

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

If you have several problems summarise them for the doctor briefly at the beginning.  The doctor can then help you prioritise the most urgent or significant issues.  You may probably then need to make a further appointment on another day to deal with the less significant problems.

Use your appointment time effectively and help us keep to time for everybody’s benefit by telling us of only one significant problem per consultation. However we can usually deal with 2 simple problems effectively during your appointment. The more you throw at us – the less effective we will be.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.

To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the surgery between 8:30am and 10am.
